Terms For Computer Hardware Servicing NC II Assessment Examinations





Student of CHS or Computer Hardware Servicing NC II need to pass the Assessment Examination in able to get the National Level Certificate. But how will you pass if you are in lock of knowledge. This blog will be usefull to you. I am making some tutorials and reviews here, just explore and you will learn a lot.
                  I am also a graduate of CHS NCII at Innovative College of Science & Technology (Malitbog, Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro). I am having now my National Certificate 'coz I have passed the assessment examination.
                   Based on my experience on the examination, it composes of these types below:


WRITTEN EXAMINATION

1. Theoretical - based on the terminologies and theories regarding PC/Computers. Basically it is more about computre history, types of computer, parts of computer, functions and definitions, operating system, hardwares, software, BIOS, CMOS, Viruses, DOS, Networking terms, Safe Modes, Beeps, Binary Numbers, Microsoft Office and etc.

2. Academical - commonly for academic subjects like Basic Math and English (Parts of Speech).

3. Identification - deals with the PARTS and TYPES Of Computer:

a. RAM (SDR, DDR, DDR2, DDR3)
b. Processor (Intel, CMD)
c. Optical Disk Drive
d. Hard Disk Drives
e. Memory Modules
f. Bridges (South and North)
g. Beep Codes
h. BIOS Features
i. Chipset
j. Motherboard (Sockets are needed to know)
k. Serial and Parallel Ports
l. PCI, PCI-E, and AGP Ports/Slots
m. Operating Systems
n. Hard Disk Jumpers
o. Mainframe, Mini, Laptop, Netbook, Notebook Computers and etc.
p. Video Card (AGP or PCI-E)
q. Input-Output Devices
r. Power Supply
s. Floppy Disk Drive
t. ZIP Card
u. Booting and Dual Booting
v. Expansion Cards


PRACTICAL EXAM

1. Assembling and Disassembling - the examiner lets you to Disassemble the system unit and assemble it again properly.
2. OS Installation - lets you to install a fresh copy of operating system (Windows is the common)
3. Hardware Configuration - lets you configure the installed hardware on the system unit
4. Networking - on this time make sure the color coding is right because there is no trial, practice at home regularly.
5. PC Operation - most regards with Microsoft Office
